Local Bank Accounts in Suva
You can setup a local bank account in Suva with either ANZ or Westpac banks.
To open a cheque account you need to take in your
- passport
- drivers license
- Evidence of lot ownership
- and a deposit of $250
We recommend ANZ bank as they have established a rural banking service in Fiji and are planning a weekly banking service to start on Koro in the beginning of 2006.

These banks can receive telegraphic transfers from overseas accounts and you must organize your home bank to send transfers.
Western Union in Koro
There is a western union office in Koro at the Post office in Nasau. This works the same as other Western Union Offices and can be used to pay caretakers who can ride a horse to Nasau Post Office to collect it. Please send your caretakers moneyorder number so they can collect it. Without this number they cannot collect the money.
